December 10-10, 2020

Key seminar to address the difficult situation left by the Covid-19 pandemic. Creating connections and ties between Indonesia and Panama is fundamental in the economic recovery process of both countries. The basic idea is to turn Indonesia into a heaven for South Asian investors and in turn attract countries from all over the world. Connecting with Panama would lead to better business opportunities.

Diplomatic relations between Panama and Indonesia were established 14 years ago and two agreements have been signed to improve trade.

Indonesia is the largest economy in Asia and Panama represents one of the largest in the Latin American region. Doing business with Indonesia would automatically elevate our entry into the Asian regions, as this country is the gateway to Asia and the Pacific. Likewise, the country has been maintaining its economic growth in a stable manner. Thanks to its numerous free trade agreements by 2019 it earned a total of $338.34 billion.

The seminar also touched on important topics about Panama's strategic position and was attended by the president of the Colon Free Zone Giovani Ferrari who stressed that Panama is the business center of Latin America and the Caribbean: Cuba, Trinidad and Tobago, Guatemala, etc. And that our Free Zone is the largest in America since approximately 200 million dollars come and go through it.

It is worth mentioning the participation of H.E. Sukmo Harsono, Ambassador of the Republic of Indonesia in Panama and H.E. Manuel Saturno, Ambassador of the Republic of Panama in Indonesia.
